This month, we are delighted to present a mini collection of works by Takashi Baba, Syo Fujita and Taiga Mori, the up-and-coming young artists of Bizen ware. Rooted in the western region of Japan facing the Seto Inland Sea, Bizen ware is one of the six remaining ancient kilns and is renowned for its strength, color, and absence of glaze. Bizen ware is fired in a wood firing kiln at high temperatures and the resulted color effects vary depending on the firing condition. We hope you will appreciate the works by these three artists who pursue their own expressions by challenging the unconventional Bizen style yet upholding the tradition inherited in Bizen ware. Timeless, rustic and humble, these tableware items such as plates, sake cups and bottles are sensational and practical to be used in everyday life.
