Live Ceramic Painting Demonstration & Soekyu GOSU Exhibition at HULS Gallery Millenia Walk

This February, HULS Gallery Millenia Walk invites you to immerse yourself in the timeless artistry of traditional Japanese ceramic painting. Featuring the renowned Soekyu Seitosho from Saga Prefecture, the event highlights the exquisite Soekyu GOSU series—celebrated for its masterful use of deep blue pigments.

Founded in 1953 in Hizen-Yoshida, Saga Prefecture, Soekyu Seitosho is a third-generation pottery studio renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship. The signature Soekyu GOSU collection presents five nuanced shades of vibrant blue, achieved through precise brushwork, pigment control, and expert firing techniques. Each piece is a unique expression of the artisan’s skill and sensibility—no two are ever identical.

Live Demonstration Highlight

Join artisan Michiko Soejima for an exclusive live showcase of the traditional “Dami” technique—a meticulous hand-painting method using broad brushes to layer and blend the signature gosu blue pigment, creating depth, texture, and luminous gradations.

Witness the process firsthand and view an in-progress tea aroma burner (cha-koro) as it takes shape before your eyes.
