Mr. Eijiro Tokunaga was born in Arita, Saga Prefecture in 1977. After his formal education with Kyoto Saga Art University and Kyoto City Ceramics Training School, he studied under Yasaburo (Mr. Hiroyuki Kitagawa) Ceramic Studio, Ide-cho, Tsuzuki-gun, Kyoto City. In 2005, Mr. Tokunaga inherited the family kiln, Tokko Kiln, back in Arita. Mr. Tokunaga specializes in carbonized firing, whereby charcoal is placed inside a highly fire-resistant sagger pod containing a glazed vessel, before firing. As more people are enjoying tea casually and during their traveling, he created a series of portable travel bowl which can be carried in a drawstring bag.
