Mr. Taki Nakazato was born in 1965 in Karatsu, Saga, and he began studying pottery under his father Mr. Takashi Nakazato in 1988. He runs the family Ryutagama kiln today after inheriting it from his father. He held his first solo exhibition in 1995. Besides exhibitions held in Japan, his works were also exhibited overseas in Taipei (2014) and Paris (2019). Taki believes in “beauty of use”, that dishes are to be used and enjoyed in daily life. He considers affinity and comfort with food and sake above all else in his creations. His works were made in Karatsu technique, using wood fired kiln as well as gas firing.
