Born in 1978, Fukuoka, Ms. Rui Mito graduated from Arita College of Ceramics in 2006. Her attraction to Shino tea bowls piqued her interest in pottery from around the world and she became an apprentice of Ms. Kiyomi Kawakami, a ceramic artist in Karatsu. Ms. Mito fell in love with Karatsu ware as they present a variety of expressions resulting from the ways they are fired. She built her own wood-fired kiln in Karatsu in 2009 and became a professional pottery artist. She often conceptualises her works in her mind to convey her feelings in them. Her works are feminine and gentle, yet at the same time, with a strong core.
