Ms. Eiko Tanaka was born in the city of Anjo in Aichi Prefecture in 1983. Influenced by her art-loving parents, she was captivated by the Japanese traditional lacquer colours and aspired to learn the craft. She studied lacquer art at Aichi University of Education and further her woodturning and lacquer painting skills under the tutelage of Mr. Torao Nakashima at an institution located in Yamanaka, Ishikawa Prefecture.  Ms. Tanaka gained a reputation abroad for her works since her first exihibition in New York in 2012. She aims to highlight the individuality of wood in her craft. Her exquisite woodturning skills coupled with beautiful lacquer painting developed into a distinct and recognisable style.
