Established in the 16th century, Hirado Kohsyo Danemon Kiln has perfected the intricate techniques of Mikawachi ware, long renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and high-grade quality. Their signature craftsmanship revolves around the art of “tooled-chrysanthemum appliquê work” (kikka-kazari zaiku), where delicate flower petals are carefully carved using finely pointed bamboo tools. Once a full circle is formed, these petals are then individually raised and sculpted. This process is repeated multiple times to gradually shape a beautiful chrysanthemum motif.
