Mr. Hiroyumi Suzuki, born in 1981, began making ceramics in university. After graduating, he apprenticed in Mungyeong and Gyeongju, Korea. He gained experience in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture on returning to Japan and became an independent ceramic artist in 2009. Since 2016 he has his own studio in Iga, Mie Prefecture. Mr. Suzuki works on a wide range of ceramic styles, such as Joseon ware as well as in the Yakishime style of Shigaraki ware. He has also increasingly worked with Shino ware. He continues to pursue his own style with solid skills while still embracing the charm of the classics.
