Mr. Ryotaro Kato was born in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture in 1974. He completed his graduate studies in ceramics at Kyoto City University of Arts Department of Crafts in 1999. A year later, he entered the family pottery business, as the 7th generation head of the Kobeigama kiln. Mr. Kato produces mainly Mino tea ceramics in styles such as Shino, Setoguro and Oribe. He is also well versed in the tea ceremony and calligraphy, and conveys the beauty of Japan’s unique culture through his works. His works were exhibited in Italy (2018) and the United Kingdom (2019).
